A celebration, a recognition and a digital event.

On 29 June, POINT is celebrating World Industrial Design Day 2022, a day dedicated to the professionals who work to improve our quality of life and envision what the future will look like.

Every year, the WDO (World Design Organization), the driving force behind this event, organises 24 hours of themed conferences in which different representatives of the industrial design sector are invited to participate –digitally– to share their experiences. This year, coinciding with the WDO’s 65th anniversary, the topic around which the debates will revolve is leadership and the ways in which designers open the way for the rest of society towards new ways of living. This virtual event will feature conversations with major leaders and thinkers in the world of design, who will explain how they are using their skills to mobilise change and have an impact in their communities and around the world.

For more than 100 years, POINT has led the way by talking to our designers, exploring people’s needs with them and looking for the best way to address these. Although leadership has traditionally been seen as the ability to influence a group, for POINT it means the ability to ask questions, listen, discuss and offer solutions. Together with our industrial designers, we create products that find their place in the gardens and terraces of homes, hotels and restaurants. The innovative vision provided by designers has an impact on a specific product, on a sector and, ultimately, on the economy as a whole. World Industrial Design Day is a celebration of the value of this profession and the impact it has.

In 2019, POINT received the National Design Award, which recognised the company’s contribution to improving society and people’s quality of life. “This award is a recognition of the efforts of four generations and more than two thousand employees who have formed a team –and a family– with us. It is also a tribute to a job well done”, said Vicente Pons, POINT’s Sales Manager and member of the third generation of the founding family, on receiving the award from Queen Letizia.

The secret to POINT’s more than 100 years of existence has been to combine tradition, craftsmanship, the best design and support for our designers. It is thanks to this that we are present in more than a thousand projects and in seventy countries.
